During the EMTC Summer Meeting 2026, held online on the 05 June 2026, the EMTC Chair Shafigh Nategh announced and presented the ongoing work done to create an international steering committee for WEMDCD. The EMTC has always been a main driver for the IEEE Workshop on Electrical Machines Design, Control and Diagnosis (WEMDCD). Due to the ongoing success of WEMDCD and also due to recent IES directives, the EMTC is thus organising an official international steering committee whose main role will be to supervise and monitor the successful planning and delivery of upcoming WEMDCD editions. A group of eleven WEMDCD enthuisasts have already been assembled, with Prof Stefano Nuzzo of the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, Italy set to become the first chair of the committee. Individuals interested in this committee are invited to contact the EMTC secretary for further information. The WEMDCD steering committee will be an item that will be discussed further and ratified during the EMTC annual meeting to be held during ICEM'2026 in Madeira, Portugal. Stay tuned for more info.

As per recent IES directives, all mailing from the TCs will be required to originate from an official IES account. Thus all EMTC members will be included in an official EMTC mailing list. This is being prepared and will be given some test runs in the next few days. Stay tuned for more info.

The EMTC is pleased to announce that it is looking for Expressions of Interest for the post of EMTC Secretary for the period of 2027 to 2028. This will be discussed and presented during the EMTC Summer Meeting 2026 on Friday 5th June 2026 at 14:00 CET (Online Event). Stay tuned for more information.

The EMTC is pleased to announce that the Webinar title "A Rare-earth Free Electrical Machine Solution for Auxiliary Applications", held on the 18th March 2026 was a super success story. With 250 registrants and 139 attendants, it placed in the top 10 most popular IES webinars of all time. Congratulations to the speakers: Johan Åström (Aros Electronics, Sweden), David Deurell (Aros Electronics, Sweden) and Shafigh Nategh (Chair of EMTC).

The EMTC Best Paper Awards during IECON 2025, were delivered to the winners during the Conference. The winners are:
